Benjamin Franklin Johnson

Three years and two months ago, Ben Johnson moved in with us.
Lucy was 6 months old. Asher was almost two.

Ben lived in a bed just outside Asher's room, then in bunkbeds IN Asher's room, then twin beds in Asher's room. The poor man never had his own room. And I think he and Asher liked it that way.

Last summer, Ben left to go sail to Spain for the summer. When he got back, he walked in our front door and Asher leapt down 6 stairs into Ben's arms.
It was like his big brother had come home.
He moved back in with us for another six months and then moved out for good in January.

But today, Ben is leaving to go on a journey that is taking him into the Air Force this upcoming January and we are going to miss him like crazy. But it is so exciting to see your friend, someone you dearly love go and do something that they are really excited about and seems like it is custom fit for them. We can't wait to see what happens.

But in the meantime, we are going to have a big hole in our lives while he is gone.

"A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother."
Proverbs 18:24

Ben has been an amazing friend to Matt, me and our kids. Closer than a brother. We will miss him more than he knows.
Traveling mercies Ben!

A Public Service Announcement

We went to the lake this past weekend and we did a little "Drinkclip" photoshoot. (Stay TUNED)

But *ahem*
May I just go ahead and say, if you would like to have an introduction to this young man here,
I will personally vouch for him and set you up on a blind date.

Just let me know.
Also, you must comment here:
HOT or NOT?
It's your call.

Now That They're Over

What will I do every night?

P.S. What will I argue about with Ben Johnson who insists that none of the Winter Olympians are real Olympians?
He says this because he thinks he could be on the next Gold Medal winning bobsled team.
I know.
But seriously. Did you see Steven Holcomb?
Not a picture of fitness eh?
Thank goodness I don't have to wear head-to-toe spandex to prove my fitness level.

As Sweet As Three Can Be

Last night Matt and I took advantage of the fact that we have someone living with us who can put our children to bed and watch TV, and we went on a DATE!

It was great. And about two hours into the date we got a text message from Ben that said, "Just so you know, your son is a baller."

Of course, we had to call and find out just what he was talking about.

He said that Lucy was having a hard time getting ready for bed and started getting upset. Asher walked up to her and put his hand on her shoulder and said, "It is going to be okay Lucy. Mommy and Daddy are on a date, you are going to go to bed. Tomorrow we are going to wake up, eat cereal and then watch some Wiggles. Okay? It is going to be okay. "

Then he gave her a hug and a kiss and told her night night. He walked out of her room and went into his room and got in his bed. Ben tucked Lucy in (who was now calmed down) and went to put Asher to sleep. Usually, Asher requires quite the dog and pony show to go to bed. But not last night.

Ben tucked Asher in and was about to get going on the show when Asher said, "I am just going to go night night. I am going to stay in bed. I am excited to see a seven tomorrow!"

And then he went to bed.

WHAT? Who is this child?

We need a Bunk Mate

Our good friend Ben Johnson has moved back into our house and we are trying to figure out a good sleeping solution.

One possibility that we are looking at is BUNK BEDS! Yes, bunk beds for a 21 year-old and a 3 year-old. Who wouldn't want to be Asher's roomate?

Anybody have some bunk beds in storage somewhere?
