5 Years TODAY

We've been blessed to have Lucy in our lives for five years and I can't believe how the time has gone. She is so much fun and is so beautiful. It is tremendous to be her mother. She challenges me daily in so many ways but lately in ways that she doesn't intend. She is curious so she has asked me to define words for her and they have given me much food for thought. Words like; yield, compensate, panic, healthy, ecstatic. Try for a minute to boil down the essence of these words and you will see what I mean. She is challenging and lovely. A personality treat in a small body. This transition from the fourth to the fifth year has been a blessing to me and I can't wait to see all the ways that she changes as she leaves preschool and goes to kindergarten (EEK!) this next year.
If you get a chance, you should spend some time around my daughter. She is the cherry on top of life.

Green Eggs and Ham

I've always shared my birthday with Dr. Seuss.
I am very okay with this since it makes the day much like Halloween in elementary school but with a central theme.
Nerdy much?
Asher has been sick all weekend and today was the first day he got to go back to school.
Think he was excited about it being Dr. Seuss's birthday?

And with it being my birthday: We wouldn't be able to celebrate without something electronic coming into my life:

And I love it.
So so much.
It completely lives up to the hype.

Believe it.

I'm Not Getting Up Today

It's my birthday. It's snowing. Kids school is cancelled. Clients are calling.
I am not going to get up today.
It's my birthday. The wiener dog is snoring. The phone is ringing. My hair is greasy.
I am not going to get up today.
I am 32 years old. I still want to get my nose pierced. I just now like sushi.
I am not going to get up today.
I'm making my own birthday cake. There are piles of laundry to do. I just want to go for a run.
I am not going to get up today.
Dr. Seuss. Jon Bon Jovi. Gorbechov. Chris Martin and Daniel Craig all share the same birthday.
Since it's all men, I am not going to get up today.
It is Texas Independence Day.
I am not going to get up today.

I am going to stay in bed. Watch the rest of Arrested Development. Drink coffee. Watch the snow. Wait for daffodils and sunshine.
I think that is quite a plan.

I am not going to get up today.

Thanks Dr. Seuss

Happy Birthday Lu

It's Lucy's Third Birthday today and this is what she woke up to this morning:I have pictures of her reactions to these things, which trust me...are PRICELESS.

This was Lucy's reaction to the TinkerBell card that sang to her
"You can Fly!" She sang all morning until she broke the card.

Yay for figuring out three fingers in the air!

My adorable Cinderella!

Happy Birthday Lucy!

A Weekend of Birthday Wishes

We spent the weekend wishing our children's friends and now our children's friends a "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"

My dearest friend Robin's baby Ruby made it to one. So she had a garden party that was fantastic. Asher had a t-ball game, so Lucy got all dolled up and we went to the party. It was so fun, cause Robin is fun. Take a look.

And then came Bennett's 3rd Birthday party.
The theme for this party? Sugar. Sugar. And more Sugar.
So Asher actually said this sentence,
"This is the best birthday party that I have ever been to."

Riding bikes was followed by a sports ball "easter egg hunt" filled with candy.
Onto a Pinata filled with candy (and other healthy items-YUCK)
Then cake and juice boxes.
Onto cotton candy fresh from cotton candy machine from Windy Gap.

Best Birthday Party indeed.
Wanna see what that does to SOME children?

Hello Pinata. Bennett is very VERY intense about it.

Happy Birthday Big Boy!

He got a ton of pirate gear, which then led to a pirate war.

Here is the girls vs. the boys in the pirate war. It starts early doesn't it kids?

And I can only imagine EXACTLY what he is saying to her here. But I had to stifle the laughter to get the shot.

Mmmmm. Cotton Candy.
Yes, the sugar wore off about 30 minutes after we left Windy Gap. I had to put on a movie at home, snuggle up on the couch with the kids and we all fell asleep for two hours.
It was fantastic.

If you click on any of the pictures, it ought to take you to the Picasa photo album that I created for both parties. They were both really fun. Now all Lucy can talk about is her own birthday. Which apparently has to involve a pretty dress, a crown and slippers.
Amazing already.

Happy Birthday to You-Here's a Punch to the Mouth

I woke up this morning with Asher and got him watching some television and snuggled back in bed only to hear a "craaaaaack" and I knew immediately that a tree had fallen in our yard.

The first words out of my mouth were "That's a tree" and the next were "We would have heard my car smashing if the tree hit it right?"

Thank God it didn't fall back towards our house because it could have fallen right in line with all of our bedrooms.
