Lose the Hair

My friend Liz Simpers made this video of one of her high school girls getting her CRAZY long hair cut in one motion. It makes me nervous to watch it, but it looks like an amazing moment! Check it out:

Also, song of the day is a cheesy one, "Girlfriend" by Avril Lavigne. It is really poppy and fun to run to! Annoying any other time to have on my ipod, but it was perfect around the 12 minute mark.

#2 song of the day?
Sweet Dreams by the Eurythmics. So so great for about a minute and then I needed to change it cause it got too repetitive, but it helped to get me over the hump!

Haircuts

What is it with my kids? I can not get them to look normal.
On Saturday, I decided that Lucy's hair was looking like a mess and so I would trim her up a bit. Everything was going well until Asher decided to jump OFF of the couch right in front of Lucy just as I was putting the final touches on her bangs. The scissors were at a normal place until she flinched and bent her head down right as my scissors were closing on the middle of her bands.

The result?

My daughter looks like Buster Brown.

Sorry for the bad follow-up

I guess that the last post took so much work, I haven't had much energy to put towards the blog. Not really. I have had a major project for work that has taken up all my free time...and that pays the bills if you know what I mean. Also, Matt was out of town all last week. Both kids got ear infections while he was gone (of course) and so I was a little busier than usual.

This past weekend was women's weekend at Windy Gap and my favorite YL women were all here: Dana Martin, Brandi Kellett, Shelly Kaiser, Lindsay Hancock and of course, my sister-in-law Buffy. I pretty much want to be around these women at all times. How can I get an invite to be on the planning committee for next year. Anybody???

It was a great weekend and I loved getting to be around these fun ladies. But what I loved even more than a great weekend with girlfriends was that the Gamecocks beat that slovenly team known as Georgia. AT GEORGIA. Between the freakin' hedges. And USC Women's Soccer is off to the best start in school history at 4-0 and are ranked in the top 25. Incredible.

Oh! And I got my haircut! I took six inches off and I am having a few regrets. I really liked my longer hair, but it was looking ratty and I made a spur of the moment decision to chop it off and I think that I have a mom haircut now. Thoughts?

Buzz Cut

I got sick of seeing Asher's little bowl cut that we got at Fantastic Sam's two weeks ago, so I borrowed some clipper's from Karl and Ellen Troyer and decided to give it a go. I was decidedly freaked out because Asher had such a meltdown while getting his haircut. But let me tell you, it was almost the easiest thing that I have had to do with this kid!

He sat there and basically had no problem with it. The only thing is that he got sick of how long it took! He also did not like all of the hair tumbling down on top of him!

But it looks so cute! I have always loved little boys with crew cuts since River Phoenix in "Stand By Me"

Haircuts in Weaverville are FANTASTIC!

I took Asher to get his haircut today. We went to the Fantastic Sams in Weaverville. Guess what? It turns out that Fantastic Sams in Weaverville is also known as the best place in town to get your mullet trimmed (well not the mullet part, the business part needs trimming). This is the second time that I have taken Asher here to get his haircut and during our first trip, every single chair was occupied by a mullet head. Men, women and children were all getting their mullets trimmed. It was amazing.

So I made myself very clear that the back had to be cut short and they did a good job, so we returned today. This time with my camera. Proof that the above paragraph is not an exaggeration. Sorry about the picture quality, I was trying to be discrete about snapping a picture and it was nearly impossible. (I had to take a million stupid pictures of Lucy and Asher that all turned out terribly.) Also, I don't know if you can see it or not, but this guy had an amazing cowboy mustache that you can barely see.

I didn't manage to get any pictures of Asher getting his haircut because he threw a WORLD CLASS fit while in the chair. I gave him a lollipop to start the haircut off and then he went beserk. Crying so hard that snot was everywhere. Yucky nasty snot. I had to run to the bathroom and get tissue and he kicked the tantrum into fifth gear. Somehow our stylist managed to get Asher's hair cut pretty decently. I think he might have been having a fit because she called him "Austin" at least 75 times in our 11 minute haircut. But maybe not.
